Monday Morning Update...

  • Yesterday, during the 10:30 a.m. Alamo City Sunday Worship Service, Pastors David Walker & David Guion and Blood-n-Fire Founder, Mark Roye, each gave reports of some of the things that the Lord is doing in the San Antonio area shelters for Louisiana evacuees.

David Walker indicated that there continues to be a need for the feeding of San Antonio Peace Officers (Police, Sheriff, Texas Guard, etc.) out at the Kelly USA Shelter. Things like cookies, brownies, pralines, fudge, rice crispy treats, homecooked desserts, etc., the kind you can package easily, pick up and go.

Blood-n-Fire Team Member, Linda Powers, is coordinating this effort out at Kelly USA and she can be reached at 653-5236 or 421-6313 or e-mail lpowers@adorno-rogers.com

Perhaps this same need exists over at the Windsor Park Mall Shelter. So, we are in need of someone who could find out that information and get word back to us here at Alamo City. The telephone number at Alamo City is (210)654-7880 or e-mail worship@alamocity.org
  • A decision concerning future Chaplain Training Classes should be determined sometime today by Chaplain Ronnie Adams and his team. They may have met their quota of Chaplains needed. If not, they will continue to have classes.

We are told that a tentative class has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 13 @ 6-8pm out at Kelly USA . Please check back here for confirmation.
  • Evidently, in order to volunteer at the Windsor Park Mall Shelter, all you need to do is go to the volunteer entrance (which is located on the south-side of the old Montgomery Wards store, second floor) and sign in.

Below are the Volunteer Instructions taken directly from the San Antonio Red Cross (www.saredcross.org) web site:

    TO VOLUNTEER

"To register and schedule volunteer hours as an American Red Cross volunteer, please go in person to the Freeman Coliseum. The San Antonio Chapter of the American Red Cross has opened a volunteer registration center 7 days a week at the Freeman Coliseum on Houston Street between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Use the West Gate.

This will be a registration facility only. Phone registration is not yet available. The need for volunteers will continue as the sheltering and recovery process for the evacuees continues in the weeks ahead.

The San Antonio community has been generous in donating their time and talents."

Please check this site regularly. Changes happen quickly as needs shift.

Please e-mail any questions, suggestions, etc. to the Alamo City Christian Fellowship at worship@alamocity.org.

Or feel free to post a comment right here on the blog. (If you need help in being able to post a comment, please click here.)

James 2:15-17 "If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and filled,' without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."

Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
