Sunday Evening Update...
Welcome to the Alamo City Christian Fellowship Katrina Relief Effort weblog.
If this is your first time to view the site, we recommend that you take a moment to scroll down to the Thursday, September 8, 2005 entry and start reading from there - just so you can get caught up to speed.
The San Antonio Katrina Relief Effort is massive and very dynamic - things can (and do!) change very quickly. This weblog has been established with the hope that we can keep the Alamo City church family advised more efficiently with daily updates.
So, here's our update:
- Many evacuees in the San Antonio shelters are considering making our city their new home. If you are aware of available jobs, more permanent housing, etc., please post a comment here on the blog. (If you need help in being able to post a comment, please click here.)
- We understand that, in order to volunteer at the Windsor Park Mall Shelter, all you need to do is go to the volunteer entrance (which is located on the south-side of the old Montgomery Wards store, second floor) and sign in.If you would like to be able to volunteer at the other shelters, please call 211 or go to Freeman Coliseum to register. We have been told that volunteers will be able to register from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Freeman.
- WINDSOR PARK MALL SHELTER PRAYER REQUEST: Chaplain Paul Worley's grandson, who was born day before yesterday, has a very serious heart defect. Please pray for little Jason and his family.
- Please remember in prayer the families and love ones of those who perished in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Please check this site regularly. Changes happen quickly as needs shift.
Please e-mail any questions, suggestions, etc. to the Alamo City Christian Fellowship at worship@alamocity.org.
Or feel free to post a comment right here on the blog. (If you need help in being able to post a comment, please click here.)
James 2:15-17 "If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and filled,' without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
